I realize that as we speak about integrity, it is a decision we have to make on a daily basis. When we are standing in a place of decision as true followers of Christ, we need to consider what He would want us to do. Then again, what would He do in this situation?
Have you ever been in a check out line in the store and you notice the person in front of you may not have enough money? What would He do? Should you do anything? Or you just got home from a very long and trying day and you just want to take a shower, eat and rest; when you get a phone call and really do not want to talk with that person right then. What would He do? What should you do? How about the children are pressing on you and not listening to you. You just want to yell, but what would He do? I know you are getting the point. There are so many other situations that can be presented and we would have to ask ourselves what would He do and what should we do?
Now a days you notice an increase in selfishness. There are not enough believers truly doing what He would do. If Jesus tells His followers to deny themselves then should we not be doing the same? Matthew 16:24 says, “Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. “We are also told in Jude 1:18 that “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." “I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.” 2Peter 3:3
You may ask how can I live a life full of integrity and honesty all the time. When you accept what Jesus did for you on the cross and receive the forgiveness of sins, he promises to give us His Spirit to help us and direct us in all our ways. We read this in John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” As followers of Christ, we SHOULD be leading by example and in integrity in this world…don’t you agree? “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” Romans 8:14
